Stockholm, Sweden (March 8th, 2010)
The sun was shining down yesterday on the Swedish Rally Circuit drivers at Valö-Sprinten, the second race of the Sprint Cup. Bluebeam Rally Team Driver Björn Wulff and the Co-Driver for the day Patrik Hansson were charged up for the challenge! As is standard with Sprint Cup races, the Bluebeam Rally Team had three tries on the track. Here’s a recap of each lap:
Lap 1 - The luck of the draw put the Bluebeam Rally Team third in line for the start. Since only two drivers were ahead of them to help tear up the ice, the Bluebeam Rally Team’s first run was very slippery and not nearly as fast as they had hoped for.
Lap 2 – On the second try the Bluebeam Rally team had better focus, traction, and control. On this lap, they beat their Lap 1 time by nearly eight seconds. Unfortunately, most of the competitors who followed them also improved their time by about eight seconds as well. The playing field was leveled.
Lap 3 – After some discussions with other drivers and people around the stage the Bluebeam Rally Team decided to test-drive more in fourth gear. The result was stunning. Wulff and Hansson improved their time by almost 25 seconds. It was just enough of an improvement to win second place in their division!
After the race, Bluebeam Rally Team Driver Kenneth Lodeklint said, “I’m happy that we have the Opel Corsa running, and I hope that we pick up speed in future races.” Go get ‘em, Kenneth!
